The Memorial Flagpole Garden was dedicated in 1927 in honor and recognition of Mayor Edwin Stewart’s efforts to create Ithaca’s first public lakefront park. In 2012, it was restored, and new plantings were designed and installed by members of the Ithaca Garden Club working with the Friends of Stewart Park. As the lakefront pavilions are renovated, the historic pathways will be recreated to connect the garden to the pavilions.
