The Cayuga Waterfront Trail is an 8 mile, multi-use trail providing an active, non-motorized transportation and recreationway connecting our community's most popular waterfront destinations including Stewart Park, the Ithaca Farmers Market, Ithaca Children’s Garden, Cass Park, Treman Marina, and more. CWT is also linked to the Black Diamond Trail, a stone dust trail connecting Ithaca to Taughannock Falls State Park.

The Waterfront Trail is paved, flat, accessible, and provides a safe and comfortable multi-use trail for walkers, runners, bikers, skaters and other non-motorized users. CWT is a well- designed facility with benches, interpretive signs and other amenities, in a beautiful waterfront setting. Completed in 2015, the Trail serves residents and visitors to our community and is leading the way towards the revitalization of our community's waterfront.

You can learn more about the trail, including destinations along the trail, winter maintenance, pedaling or paddling the Cayuga Waterfront, as well as it’s design. Please follow the trail rules when enjoying the CWT. Click here to learn more about volunteering or giving to the trail.

The Cayuga Waterfront Trail is owned and maintained by the City of Ithaca with the assistance of Friends of Stewart Park. FSP assists the City by coordinating volunteer maintenance of the Trail, planning and fundraising for enhancements to the Trail, and managing the sponsorship of trail furnishings and stepping stones (engraved bricks and flagstones located at the five trailheads). The Waterfront Trail was developed under the umbrella of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Cayuga Waterfront Trail Initiative.
